Update on Thailand

I thought I would post this travel update for the January 2008 team in light of the protests and disturbances in downtown Bangkok Thailand  that have been in the news today.  The January squad has been in route from India to Bangkok.  The travel plans have the team arriving at the airport and then leaving for an island off the coast for debrief.  They will not be in Bangkok for the next 10 days.  Coaches Michael and Kathy Hindes are also arriving in Bangkok and will meet up with the team soon.  We do not anticipate any problems as much of the commotion is downtown and the teams will not be near the city center.  I'm sure when the traveling time is over the teams will post of their arrival in Thailand.  The lack of blogging is due only to the fact that they are currently in route.

The July 2008 Teams will soon be leaving for Thailand and their plans are the same as the January team.  They will be going to debrief and shouldn't be near the city center of Bangkok.

Help Two Racers to the Next Continent!

We have two Racers who currently have financial needs... What an amazing opportunity to see the body of Christ come together to bring these two to the next continent on their journey!!!

Danny Gutman is a team leader on the September Squad. They are currently in Africa and loving the ministry there. Danny needs $1540 more by April 23rd.

Magen Bradley is a part of the January squad who is currently in Africa. Magen has been an integral part of her team and no one wants to see her go home! Magen needs $3000 by April 16th!

Please visit the blogs of these two great participants and read their hearts and all of their experiences. As the Lord leads, please provide for Magen to head on to Africa and Danny to come to Panama!

Continue Prayers for Health...

It seems that Satan's current strategy is to attack our teams through health issues. Many participants are feeling under the weather, some more than others. Everything is being taken care of and all are getting any medical attention they need. However, it seems vital that all of our prayer warriors begin to go to battle on their knees right now. Our participants need to experience God as the Great Physician at this time. Please join us to pray for all of the participants - healing for all who are sick, and protection for everyone.

Updates:

Nate - Feeling better and continuing to improve. Praise God!

Christie - Has found a reputable doctor in South Africa who has now ruled out malaria, pneumonia, and tick bite fever. In fact, Christie is feeling much better, symptoms are going away! Praise God for healing in that area as well!

Eli - Unfortunately, Eli is on his way home. Praise God his insurance is paying to fly him home comfortably. Pray for a speedy recovery at home and that he can rejoin his team in New York City in the middle of April.

Pray for Healing

Recently, two of our participants in Bolivia have come down with serious illnesses. Please pray for these two:

Nate Evans has been diagnosed with either Dengue fever or Malaria. He is being treated by a local physician and was well enough to travel with the team to Coachabamba. Please pray for wisdom for his physician, rest for Nate, and healing to come quickly.

Eli Martorana remains in La Paz to continue being treated. His teammate, Robby Riggs, is there with him. His diagnosis may be altitude sickness, parasite, Dengue Fever, or Malaria. Please pray for his doctor as well, energy and wisdom for Robby as he supports Eli, and healing so he may rejoin his team soon.

We have other Racers around the world who are experiencing illnesses as well. Please pray that the Great Physician would bring healing quickly, protect them, and enable them to return to the harvest fields alongside Him.

Safe in Swazi...

Some of you may have heard about the transportation strike in Swaziland.  Here is an update on our teams in Swaziland.

"I just got off the phone with several of our people in Swaziland.  The public transportation strike is over and things are peaceful in the cities.  Our Base Director has been in Manzini and said things were back to normal.  Frank and Kristen, the Real Life leaders, went to town also to walk around and talk with the police.  They were assured the demonstrations were over.  Lastly, I spoke with our key Swazi pastor contact.  He was in Manzini at the same internet café the Real Life team was in yesterday.  He said everything is over and things are peaceful again."

World Racer In Need

Here is a video from a World Race missionary in Peru who is need: http://angelatibbo.theworldrace.org/index.asp?filename=fueling-the-ministry-everyone-together-now

I met Angie last year and was instantly impressed with her heart for God. This young woman has incredible passion for the Lord and for reaching out to hurting and lost world. The video really says it all, so please click on the above link when you have a few minutes to hear her story as well as the stories of thousands she is touching with the compassion of Christ.

For anyone who is able, please help by donating to this young missionary who is financially struggling to stay out in the field. You can donate, by clicking here: https://www.adventures.org/give/donate.asp?giveto=worldrace&desc=For%20Angela%20Tibbo

If you can't give, please pray for provision for Angie and pass this on to anyone you know who might be able to help. I'm confident that as the Body of Christ we can come together and meet this need.

Adopt-A-Team Page

Dear prayer warriors:

Here's a new page that we created to get churches and individuals adopting teams and praying for them during their World Race journey. We'll be adding more features in the future, but this is our first version:

Adopt-A-Team Prayer Page

Check it out and feel free to offer feedback here. I figured many of you would be interested in signing up for the updates that are a part of this new feature we're offering parents, friends, and supporters of Racers.

Feel free to share the page with others who might be interested in praying for our Racers out in the field. And please, keep checking in, as new features will be added soon!

September Team Update

Hello Family and Friends,

Wanted to off you all an update from Molly and the September team.  As of today (February 4) the teams are ending a week of much needed rest, teaching and debriefing and are en route (or various stages of travel) to their new ministry sites.

Team 7:11 is going to Nelspruitt, South Africa with a possible transition to northern Mozambique to assist with the flood relief on the Zambizi River.

Team Ignite is going to Nsoko, South Africa to work with orphanage planting and a host of other community development oriented tasks.

Team Beloved One is going to Cape Town, South Africa to work with a variety of local ministries.

Team LESS is going to Vilanculos, Mozambique to do evangelism and orphanage outreach.

Molly's report has been incredibly positive about the week of training in Manzini, Swaziland.  A lot of time was designated for processing and debriefing as well as some discipleship training and prayer.  They are refreshed and ready to begin the next phase of ministry!

On another note, praise the Lord, Sarah Lapp has arrived safely back in the states and has been able to reconnect with her mother, sister and family.  Please pray for the family as they walk through this next season of medical tests with Sarah's mother.

June Team Arrives Nicaragua!

C squad made it to Nicaragua tonight and are settled in.  They are doing well but are bushed!  The jet lag of being in SE Asia for 4 months is just hitting, not to mention some crazy amounts of traveling.

They're all bunked in at Pastor Flores church here in Granada tonight and will be here getting briefed on Nic by Charles Kaye and Pastor Flores and a couple of others tomorrow.

They had the most awesome welcome tonight when we arrived in Granada from the airport, about 9:30 pm.  There must have been 30 people from the church there.  Pastor Flores greeted them and then they led us in a couple of praise songs, with English and Spanish being sung together.  Sweet.  Afterwards, the pastors wife and church had prepared a wonderful meal and the youth of the church then served the world racers, briniging them plates of food and drinks.  This is the first missionary team that's been here for his church; it's something they've been asking the Lord for for a long time.  The outreach here will be good.

Pray for the teams.  They need another day or two of rest to get acclimated to this side of the world, but alas we get on a bus at 4am on Tuesday to get to Puerto Cabezas.

God is good!

Jerry
